I highly doubt that, if it costs $20,000 a month, and can vaporize ANYTHING, the government would want to make these as publicly available as nukes.

I remember reading about this technology back in the 80s. High school science nerd. It was the first time I had heard the term femtosecond...erbium doped fibers and some optical tricks.

it still creates heat. heat is atomic or molecular motion. it just does so in such a brief way that there's no spillover, or residual heat, only what you shoot is affected. combine that with wavelength specific absorbion and you can target individual things, even particles inside of compounds and even organic things like people.
