Afaik retinal damage is permanent. Fortunately our brains adapt to filter out small amounts of damage, with little to no perceived loss of vision.

I think of it in terms of dead pixels on a screen...

What effect would an injection of stem cells do to a damaged retina?

Well, it's really a rather fascinating process, the stem cells destroy any dead, or scared tissue through and proceed to heal all known damage, whereby I really have no freaking clue about stem cell research, except that more of it is needed :crackup:

Hopefull by the time we all lose our eyesight stem cells are readily available

All i know is, if you eat dead fetus's they have stem cells, you will regain your eye sight in weeks. Its true, i saw it on south park once.
