Dont know if this is a DPSS Green or a DPSS IR, but whatever it is, I would say it is fairly bright and probably not what the insurgents wanted to see.

That is most likely an invisible IR laser being looked at through night-vision/IR goggles. They use then to mark targets for aerial strikes and such.

In real life they use IR for such purposes... in the movies they use RED lasers... lol You wouldn't expect the enemy to see you pointing at their base with a red laser and just sit there and enjoy the show
