Does heating cause a laser to reduce output as it is kept on longer?

yes, although DPSS lasers will be more profoundly affected by temperature vs plain diode lasers

Yes and no. Depends on many things, first off the type of laser. Heating is generally a bad thing, but in some cases it can cause your output to increase - to a point. Basically, there's no general rule about it - the only thing that's certain is that temperature does affect lasing.
