If I had glasses that were rated for 400nm would they also protect somewhat against 405nm? I guess my question is how many nm +- is the rating for glasses of something like eagles?

Every make and type is different---they are not all made by only 1 guy somewhere? lol

Depends upn which model of laser glasses and who made them and if the are certified or not.
Every manufacturer of good laser glasses produces graphs for each type each laser glasses they make offer are across the nm spectral range against OD levels of protection the glasses provide. X coordinate showing nm and Y coordinate showing OD level

Example: see graph at bottom of this Eagle Pair page: http://www.eaglelaser.cn/En/GoodsView/701.html
