Now that is in europe somewhere and might not be that cheap for us in the states. I'm sure there are some closer. I know you can buy from digikey but there usually is a minimum order

I saw the Roithner sockets, but they make it a real pain to order anything. You have to contact them then fax and order etc...

here are some other possibilities - I guess you don't really need a laser diode socket - anything that will allow you to plug it in rather than risk damaging it with heat from te soldering iron would work

They should work!!!  the heatsink is nice as well
We really only need 2 of the pins for the laser to function so other options may work

nah. problem with those is they are all too small or wrong shape. I've looked at these for increasing heatsinking inside the dorcy.
