Out of desperation, I gave up and directly hooked up the laser diode to my 123 lithium batteries, 3 volts. (Yes, i know it's going to kill the diode, but atleast it's better than crying over a non working dorcy jr.) and guess what? The result was not any better than a dollar store keychain laser. Did i overheat it when i tried to solder the wires?

There's a distinct possibility that you killed it the instant you connected it to the battery.
