laser bans getting closer to mainland UK

Diachi, you are right on this one. Tonight BBC News in Scotland reported 2 incidents of laser pens having been pointed at aircraft landing at Aberdeen airport. It was Edinburgh a week or so ago. :o

Knowing the knee-jerk reaction Scottish politicians have regarding banning anything that remotely offends them, I foresee legislation being announced in the coming months. Conceivably if these incidents continue, an EU ban may be on the cards and that will spell the end of hobbyists relatively free access to laserpointers as we know them :'(

As usual the irresponsible action of an idiotic few harm the continuance of a legitimate and harmless pursuit. >:(

As long as they keep modules legal I'm fine, it means I can still build my scanner , pointers I only use for a bit of fun.

I heard about the Aberdeen incidents this morning :-/

if they ban pointers then people will need to move on.

What's next, a EU ban on homing pigeons? I'm quite sure those can mess up an aircraft engine if used improperly and in great enough numbers :D

at least theyre considering a laser permit....AU didnt do that.... :-X

yeah that would be good , or that with modules still being legal, so some people could still enjoy pointers.
