I've been lurking for a while, but I guess its time for me to make my first post.

Recently while scavenging in some recycled electronics I came across some spectrometers and 3 HeNe lasers (two uniphase 1108P 0.95mW 632.8nm lasers and one Melles Griot .95mW 632.8nm). One appears to have the back cap broken and I havent been able to use it (i also have the power supply)

The power supply has the standard +/- red black stripped wires and I hooked it up to a 9V battery (probably pretty stupid...)

Just wondering what I have here...been looking to get into lasers for a while. I guess now is the time.

Sam's Laser FAQ
its all there somewhere

Still stumped? take some pics and send them to Sam after you try on your own to find the data on them.

If its a DC powersuply you need something around 12V 2A to power it. If you have a Wallwart I would suggest 12V 4A to power the PSU.

Again you will need to look up the exact He-Ne and powersupply and see what voltage/current it needs.
