Just got my 505 sb147ec91 and 450pltb450b from jnrpop! Shipping was pretty fast from Germany and the diodes are amazing.

Don't have a picture of the 450 on hand, but we only drove it at 700ma.

The 505 however....

Definitely a very positive experience, diodes went out the same day and came in antistatic bags in a bubble mailer.

There's also no reason to have two separate posts for the pictures. Both can be added to one. :)

Looks sorta blue-ish in that second one! Nice!

IIRC, these are the version of the three Sharp diodes that spec'd ~509nm to 510nm. The SB1473N91 were the ones that spec'd ~502nm to 503nm. Then the SB1573N91 have a photo diode in them and have a case positive pin out and spec'd ~502.5nm to 503.9nm. I'm very surprised you pushed this diode to 700 mA as I thought that might kill it. I would think half that current would be the maximum. I'm sure itis doing 510nm at least, but won't last long at 700 mA.

What kind of power are you getting at 700 mA? I'd heat sink the hell out of it if you are going to leave it there. Thanks for sharing it here.

Lol sorry guys, they've all scaled on my end :huh:

At 700ma, it was pushing about 3.25w, I had a open loop mercury system cooling it. 16.4v

It turned a very weird yellow color.


Just kidding
it was the b450b that was ran at 700ma XD

In the picture it's running at 100ma.

Okay. I missed the 450nm diode completely as I was focused on the 510nm build. The second photo looks like you had a 532nm on in the background causing the over exposure of green/yellow making the 510nm look more blue than it would normally. Even my 502nm doesn't look that blue by itself. It needs to be shown against a 532nm to look like that. You can push that diode harder than that if you want. It is over 505nm anyway, so there is no need to keep it low for the sake of a lower wavelength.
 
It is actually pretty damn blue, much much lower than 515s I've seen, my phone does the color pretty poorly because the lights were very blue (LED lighting)
 
It's true that everybody sees color differently, but I even see 502nm as green when it is not compared to another wavelength. I can only tell you what they have measured with my spectrometer. What you see is between you and your eyes. :yh:
 
Oh I agree it's green, it's just much more blue than the picture shows. Once I get a driver/host I'll take a beam shot that's color accurate like with my 532.

This was just on the bench on a current supply with a 100ohm resistor inline

Dang, you guys still saying 502 still looks pretty green? Yikes, the green spectrum never seems to end :crackup:

It can't be that green though right? I mean, you can easily tell it isn't 515 or 520?

DEFINITELY not 520, far from 515 from what I've seen. To me I'd say it's a blue with a hint of green instead of green with a hint of blue.

This diode is very very pretty, and I'll probably run it underspec or have an adjustment screw peeking out so I can show it off without toasting ye olde seeing balls

I've seen that before grainde, awesome thread! 510 should actually look like a pure green, since it is a pure green. 505 should look quite blueish-green at that point?
