it can't burn !

any reason why my laser (from a dvd asus writer) is not popping any balloons nor burning matches ??

Could be that it's not focused well enough or it's not getting enough power from the driver... tell us more about your setup and how you put it together...

i did exactly as shown here DIY: How To Make A Laser Diode Driver Circuit - Video

the light that comes out is very powerful but not spreading any heat , its very well focused , tried to adjust the pot , tried everything and it didn't work , could it be that its old ?

anyway the diode is burned now i mistakenly short circuited it x(
fuck diodes !

offcourse its a dvd burner !!
i donnu about the speed ! but its quite old , old as from 2006

There was probably something wrong with the diode or the driver to begin with. Even an old DVD diode should smoke tape at least. A diode from a CD burner will smoke tape so an old DVD diode certainly should exceed that.
