just wondering if i have got this right?

EDIT: oh and will it work with a 2V battery ok?

Assuming that is an AMC7135 driver, yes that will work. The only thing incorrect with your diagram is the laser diode; all IR laser diodes are case positive. Your configuration will not work with 2V, and even if it did I don't know of any batteries that provide 2V. You'd be best off using 3V or more for this.
 
thanks, so because its case positive i can make the host case positive right?

single cell lead acid batteries are 2V btw (the more you know)
 
i cant get it to work at all

i have tried two drivers, can you look at these pics and make sure i have got it right?

you should still see some light and regardless im using a camera with no IR filter to see any beam.
 
You might need more voltage. 4.2V would be the max I'd use for an amc7135. You might try 2 of your 2V batts in series.
 
Your configuration looks correct. The only thing that concerns me is how in that last picture, it appears that the negative input is shorting with the positive input. Make sure that none of your soldering connections are shorting.
Also, what batteries and voltage are you using? For this build I would recommend any lithiums that aren't button cell.
