I've just bought a flux paste that will be easy to apply because I can just dip the ends of diode pens in it and get a little on them, but before I commit...

It is an acid paste flux, with zinc Chloride, is that okay for a flux or can it harm the diode when soldering?

Thanks!!!

NO !!!!

Acid Flux Paste is never to be used on electronic connections
Use only Rosin Type of flux for electrical and electronic solder
joints or PCB assembly..

Alright I was practicing soldering and used the flux on some simple LEDs and nothing happened but is there some kind of flux that is rosin core but paste as well?

Also the solder I am using is 63/33 and it has rosin core 2.2% flux do I need flux if the solder has it, or is it not enough?

Flux is not Rosin Core.... Solder is Rosin Core...
What you want is Rosin Flux in paste form...
It also comes in liquid form.. Do a Google search.

If your solder is Rosin Core you should not need
additional flux if soldering properly. Extra flux will
not hurt.

Yeah sorry meant rosin core solder and rosin flux, but I picked up some rosin flux that wasn't acidic from RadioShack so I won't used the acid flux on laser stuff :)

Thanks again!
