Just to make sure i'm not confused, the pic you reposted is actually more 'focused' on the housing that the diode was pointed into, the diode itself is the blurry thing out of focus thats closer to the camera, so is it correct insaying that the housing it was focused into, being more blue, makes this the correct diode even tho the actual color on the diode itself wasn't more blue?
And i'm going to go ahead and order the parts for the driver now.... Quick question then, Can i just use a 9volt battery in the meantime to test before i drop the extra 20 on the 3.7 rechargable AA's? And also would a solid copper penny attached to the LM317 regulator be enough of a heatsink? (asuming i find a solid copper penny) or what kind of heatsink should i be aiming for here, and does it need to be attached to the entire driver cuircitry or just the lm317 ?
