I have heard that one of Wicked's modi operandi is to send RMA'd lasers to customers until one accepts it. I now suspect that this may be the case with my laser.
When I got my "Advanced" laser (I won it from a Spectra Forum contest), it already had some problems. There are scratches on the laser body, the battery cap, and the IR filter. The scratches on the body mean that the laser may have been previously used in a rough manner. The scratches on the IR filter indicate that a previous user may have tried to clean it, although within an incorrect method.
Also, although my laser outputs more than the specified 35 mW when I use fresh batteries, it drops below 35 mW long before the batteries run out. I now suspect that my laser is an RMA'd one.
