I would like to light a candle which is in a glass box. Or at least melt some of the wax for starting out. Is this a possibility?

SURE BUT....
place a dark color balloon inside yr glass box or even a larger clear balloon-the dark one pops first

OR place a small wad of flash paper inside a clear glass bottle w/ snap-on lid- light from distance with laser-very loud pop..

watching a candle melt is akin to watching paint dry....lighting a candle even w/ no box is not going to happen as-is
