well that is not really the kind of laser you would want if you have no experience in them, the output is invisible, and it is fibre coupled, which means that the beam will be crap, and unless you buy some really expensive, good optics, you can't really burn anything with it, from any sort of distance.

Bit pricey. You can often find 2W surplus ones on eBay for that price

i have one of these in 2w and 939nm, or was it 839nm? same casing with fiber.
collecting dust since 3 years now (was expensive back then!).
useless for visible lasers, no way to convert it (possible, but for 100x the price of a normal laser with the same visible output. you get the idea)
i saw someone put the fiber into a pencil for engraving wood. it would work, but a soldering iron would be better. and besides everything: you *will* eventually damage your eyes, if not using protective glasses. absolutely *must* with that class of a laser.
i have no glasses, and no use for it. so it shall collect dust the next years as well..
