i bought a 30mw green laser from dx and i assume that it does not have a ir filter, so should i buy a ir filter online and manually stick it in there or will i be fine? by the way i am very responsible and will not shine it anywhere near my eyes or anyone else's eyes!

The IR output from these lasers is actually quite low.
(10mW or so at most)
But did you get the True 30 pen style or another one ? as the True 30 ( as far as I know ) has an IR filter anyway.

never mind, I saw your other post.

Tts a romisen you have . is it the L-A030 ( thats what I have ) output of IR on that model is very low, I tested it its only about the same amount you would get off an IR LED eg on your TV remote .

OK, well I'm guesing it should be ok, even if it has no IR filter, the output should still be very low , so your safe without.
