Infrared Filter

I just purchased a <200mW Green laser pointer which has no infrared filter. I am wondering if an infrared filter removed from a Web Cam would work to block Infrared from my naked laser. I have no way to characterize one other than the fact that most Web Cams use a CMOS detector all of which I think require a similar band pass filter to render pictures more natural. How much IR they block is basically unknown.

Possibly someone has a DIY method of testing a filter.

That IR cut filter should work, though how well is to be seen. Still, it will be better than nothing.

Beat me to it I would recommend getting that though, it would be a lot easier.

Yeah the filters taken out of cameras and such should in theory work, but it would probably just be easier to buy one like the one offered by O-like

I was looking at that filter for the 50mw green I just bought off o-like. I have 2 questions about it though: according to the spec, it looks like it passes 808nm.. shouldn't that be blocked? Also, how do I go about affixing this to my laser? I got the 'sharp' 50mw. The only thing I can think of is gluing it, but I don't want to disrupt the threading for screwing on diffraction caps, or have it falling off frequently when changing caps. I'd like to use the threads on the diode module itself, but there's already a protective piece of glass/plexi there (maybe an IR filter??) and thus the threads are inaccessible.

Any ideas?
