so i bought a cheap and nasty 1mw laser from ebay because they're the only legal ones in australia and it came from canberra, ACT, Australia. i had it for about 10 minutes and then it broke on me because of something to do with the button pushing onto the driver board and bending it i think. but i didnt really care because i was going to buy a new 100mw module anyway.
But because i need a debit card to pay for the 100mw module instantly i couldn't get it so i settled for a 50mw.
i also bought a new penstyle host. I have ordered 3 modules (1x30mw and 2x 50mw) will customs pick up on me ordering these items from china? the modules are from different suppliers and same with the 2 hosts.

Ordering modules and laser parts is fine. Customs will only confiscate complete handheld lasers. But even then it's a roulette on what will get through and what wont. I have gotten 5 complete lasers through customs without a problem (and even a nice little note to say they have inspected my parcels).

You shouldn't have a problem at all.

No problems

Where about in Australia are you located? There's quite a few Aussie members around these parts.

I'm from Brisbane. So a little further up from you.

I bought a 50mW module from China with no problems. I have had a 1.5W blue diode in heatsink with driver come in from the US no worries. Members have had them described on customs forms as "flashlights" or "Star Wars Jedi Props" before.

Just don't be a dick with them and you will be OK. Don't shine them around the street and definitely nowhere near an airport... Technically in NSW a hand held battery operated laser pointer over 1mW is an offensive weapon, and regardless, carrying it in a public place is illegal without excuse (FAQ's here).
