I'm wanting to buy a blue laser is this a good one and good site?






Probably not. Looks like one of the usual "we stock chinese cheap lasers" sites. It won't be 500mW, and -- it's not blue at all. 405nm is violet. Close to the ultraviolet region. And the cost of "US$ 425.00 / UK£ 265.00" is way above what you can get these for elsewhere.

me out to one? Under $500 would be best but I might be able to push my budget.
 
Hi, and welcome to the forum. This site isn't too well known around here, you may want to do a search to find any reviews of their products. Also i noticed that you said "blue", this laser is not really blue, it is violet 405nm and will appear as a dim purple dot with poor/no beam visibility, if you are wanting blue check out 473nm lasers, they are true blue, also 445nm, a new wavelength to handheld lasers, is available on dragonlasers.com and wickedlasers.com BUT nobody who has ordered from either place has received one yet (as they are being built) and its notable that these 445nm lasers only come in higher powers than ~200mW and have price points of more than 200$. I can provide links if needed to 473nm or 445nm, just PM me.
 
Yeah I read about nobody getting them yet and I guess it doesn't have to be a true blue just that area of color is where my intrest is so I guess I would also accept violet I belive I read about cyan as well.
 
Ya, cyan is 488nm, very nice color but it can only be achieved through gas lasers or extremely pricey and unstable DPSS units. :( i'd love to have a 488nm pointer, but it's not currently possible. :(
 
What's the difference between the corrected and uncorrected?

Beam profile.

Corrective optics will give you better divergence and a dot that's more like.. well, a dot. Goes farther, but usually not focusable. People who just want to burn stuff don't like corrective optics in general.

Uncorrected is just the standard output of the LD through a single collimator. You can focus this down to a spot, but the 'dot' is going to be a wide flat bar, which is what the output of these multimode diodes really is, and the divergence will be worse, meaning the beam gets bigger faster the farther it is from the laser, but as mentioned, it can be focused down to a spot for burning at close range.

Most portables you see built here are uncorrected.
 
Well in regards to the beam I'd like burning capabilities and a viewable beam as well could those Spartan lasers do this?
 
400mW of any laser would burn stuff moderately well. The 1W and 400mW Spartans both would have a visible beam, and burn like crazy, but the 400mW would have a better beam shape than the 1W.
 
the Arctic 1W should burn quite nicely and claims a great beam, the Spartan 400mW will likely have a great beam, it is CNI after all...
