First off, thanks to all for what I was able to learn about the 405nm diodes here. This started because I found one on eBay last week. I bought one, then a google search for "Laser Forum". So here I am.
Now about me. I have been a electronics's hobbyist for 30 years. I always wanted a laser. So when the 660nm diodes got under a hundred bucks I was in. I cant recall what ever happened to that first one. Later they got cheap so I could be careless and kill quite a few. Overdriven, hooked up backwards, static.
About three years ago I kinda faded out of the hobby. Now that 405nm is where I can kill them without crying too much, I'm back.
Currently living I have....
1mw former checkout counter HeNe that does 0.5mw
10mw Hughes Hene that does 8mw
23mw Leadlight
Coherent Compass 315M-100
And I have a pile of things that don't work anymore
