IgorT Medium Lens Mounting

Glad you like it! :)

And I'm glad your getting these custom fit lens nuts CNC machined.

Because it was some work to modify the nut and also make it shorter without damaging the threads...

So hopefully your CNC shop will get it exactly the way I have it, because when you test it, you will see that it is perfect.

Wow, Jay, your solution to use a standard Aixiz spring to hold the lens in place is simply genial! :D

As you know, the "compression type" springs are designed to work till to pack, so if the free length for the spring inside the modified lens nut is 3.0 mm. (just to be sure) or greater, no need to shorten/rework the spring: as you can see in the annexed pict, the "packed" spring length is 2.4 mm....

Also if the spring is near to pack, the force it produces against the lens is absolutely ridiculous (also if more than sufficient to held the lens in place) respect to the force exerted by the "solid" custom spacer against the lens, when pressed by the Aixiz retaining ring....

:thanks:

Yes you are correct...

I shortened it, and then realized that I probably did not need to shorten it. In fact, I ended up stretching it out a little!

So far, no lens I have ever tested will give more power for blu-ray than my 405-G-1 glass lens modification...

The lenses that I have tested for my 650-G-1 glass lens modification (if I can get the right pricing), will be for red builds. Not blu-ray. They will give a 20% increase vs AixiZ acrylic (back opened) for red.

It's best to have the 405-G-1 for blu-ray, and the 650-G-1 for red. Although either will give an increase vs AixiZ acrylic.

For instance:

My 405-G-1 glass lens mod will give a minimum of 26% increase in power for blu-ray vs AixiZ acrylic. (back opened) But will still give a 15% increase for red in the same lens comparison...

This prototype looks very promising! Is the design finalized or still on the drawing board?

As, has anyone ever tried working out a different method of securing the lens nut rather than using strips of teflon?

I thought this method of using an O-ring was an interesting neater approch & wondered if a simular method could be done for the AixiZ?
But now Im wondering wether that O-ring would just melt away with high powered diodes?
Unless of course its a high temperature O-ring?

The design is finalized...

I don't see any reason for Igor to change the way I mounted it. But if he does, I can assure you it would be better! :)

I'm pretty sure that he can have his CNC shop get the threads cut to a nice fit into the AixiZ module. Possibly not even needing Teflon...

If that ends up the case id be up for having one of 50pcs

any news on igor's glass lens for the 6x builds?
i've been away for a little while and still no new news.

I know he has the prototype, but he's been very busy. So I have not heard if he has gone to his CNC contact yet...

Igor was supposed to be posting his test results and stuff, but he must be waiting on getting more information for the CNC lens nuts is what I am gussing...

I don't want to make known my test results ahead of him, because it it his lens.

So although I can answer you question, out of respect for Igor, you will have to wait for his response first...
