haha, that happens ALLOT around here! The rule of thumb is, if you thought about it, it probably has already been thought of previously by someone else. I know that sucks, but that's just the way it always seems to be. ;D Well they both have their differences. ;D Maybe a combination of the two, and a sticky, so it could help anybody seeking lasers along with letting people know that this menu has already been created so someone else doesn't reinvent the wheel again?

Thanks for posting this; it's a great way to quickly compare prices.

It would be cool if the pricing info automatically updated itself as prices often change.
One comment I'd like to add is that there is more to purchasing a laser than cost and price per milliwatt; like the support you will receive, the quality of the product and it's components as well as the reputation of the company... For instance a 200mW laser that you may think you saved $100 or more on, may actually only output 50-75% of that amount and may emit large amounts of IR that they count towards that total, so you didn't save anything and may have actually paid more. Ask "Electron" about this, he recently purchased what was advertised as a 200mW green laser, but when he tested it on his precision meter, I think he said it only had about 40mW of green and lots of IR.
Many if not most of these very low prices are directed to those who know little and do not have the capability to measure actual laser output power; they will greatly overrate the output power as most people they sell to has never seen a laser of 100 or even 50mW and they see it and are impressed with the brightness and completely satisfied. At least they are until they get together with someone who has access to a meter.
Like they say "ignorance is bliss"; so do a little research before making your purchase.

What Jack said is true. There are stickies of the reputation/business ethics of companies and perhaps they should be combined with this one, although it is great for a general idea. mW per $ is a great way of comparing lasers on a really general level. For ex, the Nova X-75 says $1.99 per mW, although mine produces 94mW average, so actually it’s $1.56 per mW, some peoples average more. And some companies take forever to ship, Optotronics is great as shipping quick, I’ve always received mine 1-2 days after the order, along with a bunch of free optics and such. Basically, your not just buying a laser, but you are paying for the guaranteed satisfaction, or lack there of depending on the company. So, it’s still best to do your research. ;)
 
It is only one aspect we are comparing here obviously. It would be like comparing cars only on $$$ per maximum speed without regard to size, comfort, brand, fuel mileage or anything else.

yup
 
my 5mw dx greenie outputs more than 5mw i'm pretty sure... maybe 15 to 20... but its horrible quality. for 20 dollars it can be a deal... for those who can only afford that ;D
this is a nice list though for those that don't want to take the risk with a dx laser
 
like Jack said, this list is for comparing prices only and nothing else, obviously companies like optotronics, novalasers, and laserglow will have better service than companies like dealextreme and kaidomain
 
Just a minor correction, the Spyder II GX is only 200mW, they claim 200mW-300mW but that only guarantees 200mW.
 
Yay, I was planning on getting the x75 for my February B-day (with goggles and key switch) and getting the best deal makes this even better.

Exactly you can not possibly compare power to dolar ratio because for example Laserglow is the RolssRoyce of lasers.You know whats inside the laser which matters the most.Anyone can make the outer appearance attractive or appealing to the eye now tell me what brand pump diode what wattage and what type of lense and ktp crystal was used then i`ll tell you if it is a good deal.
Ripp off Techlasers also sell claimed 300mw-500mw but they go down to 100mw after 3 minutes now how long would a skylaser last.What is the pump diode etc etc.All these companies have to give out more technical info before asking for the dolars that they are asking.
 
wow that table is really handy, wish it was around back for my first purchase- a Viper75, i was
close though, Viper 95 from dragon lasers seems to be the best bang for your buck :)
