Hi all. I'm new to making lasers and decided I would start with a blue one. I bought this one:

New 100mW 405nm Blue-Violet blu-ray Laser Diode - eBay (item 270438982126 end time Sep-05-09 02:03:00 PDT)

Thing is, I have no idea if I bought the right kind, nor do I know any way of checking. I was curious if anyone here would mind helping me figure this out.

I did a bit of searching, and what I can gather, is it's a PHR-803T, if it's right. I'm not sure what that means, but I think that's what it is. Can someone post a link with information on it? Maybe a diagram?

Like I said, I'm new to this. If I left out any information or details that may help, please let me know so I can post it.

I appreciate and offer my thanks for any help in advance.

Yes, from the looks of it it's a PHR diode, i say that mainly because of the two ribbons that are on the diode pins....
You will want to run this diode between 100 and 120mA
i have a picture of the pin diagram for you.
You'll also want to buy a driver (rkcstr.nfshost.com), you may also want to order a Test load while your there so you can properly set the driver to put out the desired current.

you will also be needing an Aixiz module to put your diode in...

oh one more thing, if your in the USA, buy from modwerx.com or hightechdealz.com that way you will get your stuff in about 3 days........the one you just ordered off ebay is going to take forever to get to you from hong kong.

Micro-Drive V3 adjustable driver (assembled) - $13.00 : rkcstr.com, Micro-Drive and laser diode electronics

Will this one work?

Also, I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but this is what I'm wanting to do:

Nintendo Zapper Laser

The diode I have won't be too powerful for this, will it?

EDIT: Also, I seemed to have bought two diodes. One of them is the one that eBay showed, and the other has four pins instead of three. Do these both go to the same laser or is this another laser all together?

You only use the PHR diode for your laser. The other diode is probably a red/IR combo diode and will not be very powerful. The micro drive should be fine. Good luck with your project and post some photos.

Okay. I need a little more help with this.

I just received my Micro-Drive today, and I just realized I have no idea how to connect it.

Do I connect it in between the diode and battery or do I put it betwixt the trigger and diode?

I can see two small, metal plates on the Drive that have a plus and minus next to them. Is this where I solder my wires?
