I found a laser on YouTube that can ignite cardboard boxes from 300 meters away? And it's only 140 watts?

Sunglad Lasers has recently developed a laser capable of igniting cardboard boxes 300 meters away. It only has 140 watts; I don't know how they manage that. I watched their test video on YouTube. The product page states that the center spot diameter is 8 micrometers, and M² ≤ 1. I want to buy it to test, but it's too expensive. I really want to know how 140 watts can generate such power.

140w is the actual output power, input power is higher, also the output is focused onto a small area.

They use salvaged pump arrays from industrial active fiber systems, the arrays are diode lasers knife edge arrays that have reached the hour limit of their service life, but they still work, likely not as efficiently as they once were, but we don't really care about that for hobby purposes.

The fiber coupling optics are removed, and a beam expander is epoxied in line with the beam bundle.

The important thing to always remember is the beam bundle is NIR and invisible to our eyes, however the beam is very dangerous to our eyes, so you must use proper safety at all times, even a partial reflection could blind you or a bystander if safety isn't kept in mind.

I recommend you always wear laser safety glasses that attenuate NIR and don't operate the laser where anyone else might be.

In time as battery technology advances, we will get more and more consumer laser devices, laser welders/cleaners will get more compact/portable, so if people are not safe, new laws could get passed and Freedom again falls to ignorance.

Safety 1st, pass it on before you or someone you love gets hurt.

p.s. The link in blue above is for economy safety laser glasses which may or may not be certified, but for certified laser safety glasses here are a couple more links below, remember accidents happen to the best of us, they happen every day, don't risk your eyesight for the lack of a pair of safety glasses and never lase carelessly, you are legally liable for any damage you cause and/or anyone you might injure.
