I am new to lasers, could you recommend some safety glasses?

Hi,

I am relatively new to the laser hobby and so I only have a few 5mW laser pointers. I am planning on building a 100 or 200mW green laser. I was hoping that someone could recommend a good, cheap pair of safety glasses that would work for this purpose.

Thanks

^^^ Agreed, or you could also search for some Uvex, they are quite decent for the price.

Good goggles for a green laser:Eagle Pair® 190-540nm Standard Laser Safety Goggles

"Better than nothing" goggles for a green laser:Amazon.com: Uvex S1933X Skyper Safety Eyewear, Black Frame, SCT-Orange UV Extreme Anti-Fog Lens: Home Improvement

If you are planning to build a green laser, install an IR filter on the laser. These glasses don't protect against IR.

Is this a good IR filter? 808nm,1064nm IR filter [OL-FL] - $3.50 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

That filter may work but I don't have to much experience with building greens. You may want to try a search on the forum. What type of host are you planning on using?

if you don't want to bother with the IR filter just get these goggles Eagle Pair® 190-540nm & 800-2000nm Laser Safety Goggles

Can anyone say they've bought a pair of these?

Would these adequately shield IR from a 532nm laser, as well as the 532nm green itself or a 405nm violet?

I understand these are all included in the spectrum which the vendor listed them as protecting, however I didn't know if being so close on the protection ranges (532nm laser vs. 540nm cut-off for the glasses) would have any effect.

The safer the better. Thanks.

I personally have the regular eagle pair which is just for 190-540 and it works very well on 532nm despite it being very close. ergo they should protect from 532nm pretty well.

I have the Eagle 190-540 +900-1700 and they're awesome. I'd recommend them any day.
