I am a beginner!

Hi, recently i have been intrested in lazers and like modding stuff. I am on to lazers now and need some help. At the moment i am harvesting my own lazer out of a portable cd rom. I here most are ment to have only 2 wires but mine have 4. What i need is a really simple wiring design on how you remove all the other components to leave just the lazer and the 2 wires? Is there any resisters involved? HELP

The one your looking at is a red and infrared built into one diode. These are very low power and not worth much for laser hobbists. It's not worth the trouble!
You need one from a DVD burner
You also have to have a driver to power it. If you hook it up to just a battery, you will fry it.(It has to have the correct amperage and voltage)
