how to tell Lds apart

Hey all. Iv searched this forum and cannot find a way to tell what LD I have and what pins are what on the back I know it's a green LD and its on a lm 358 chip. Im unable to post pictures but I know one came from a green pen. It someone could get a link to start my search in the right direction

There are green diodes available but they cost hundreds of dollars right now so chances are yours us not a green LD. It is an IR diode. A green pointer has a set of crystals that transform IR to green light.

Ok delete that whole reply I found the ir diodes. So I don't know if my diode came from DVD burner. I would be lead to believe via the info I have found that the pins on IR diodes are the same? No matter the diodes source? Mine came in a pen
