Hello,

I've bought an eBay 7 watt Nicha laser pointer, never used it for more than 5 mins. I never let the batteries stay inside unless I use the laser pointer. No modifications to it, never dropped it. The picture is provided below.

Now all of a sudden this laser pointer doesn't turn on and I'm trying to figure out how I can dismantle the laser head and can't understand how to take it apart.
I would like some advice on how it can be dismantled and troubleshoot if the 7 watt Nichia laser diode is burnt or not.

Thanks.

Edit:

Alright, I managed to take it apart.
The finned heat sinks are super glued on top of one another.

Now I need to test the diode to see if it burnt or not. Maybe the laser driver circuit is damaged?...
Any advice on testing?

raj.
The obvious is checking the batterys for a full charge.
Did you put the batterys in backwords?
Check the tail cap switch?
The 5 minutes that you did run it, was it 5 minutes straight?

Shmackitup,
is that you wearing your shirt with your store's logo?

Thanks for the reply.

Batteries are fully charged, Samsung INR18650 HLGL028ELB Lithium ion.
I never put the batteries backwards.
The tail cap switch works fine, I checked it using a continuity on a DMM.
I've never ran this more than 40 seconds straight and I bought it like 3 years ago and total usage was never over 5 minutes.
How do I check the 7 Watt Nichia laser diode if its working, do I need to desolder the driver circuit board?

Just hit up @Shmackitup I'm sure he'll fix it.

Edit: nevermind, you completely tore it apart I'm sure he'll sell you the replacement parts though!

Shmackitup,
Thats some nice and tidy work. Wires are nicely insolated with shrink wrap and added compound for strength.

Thermal paste where needed and not alot wire bunched in. Good choice of heatsinks added together.
I'm impressed.

raj,
with you dismantling this laser so much I can't see Smackitup repairing it for free or any small price. I don't know what his warrantee covers are though.

The P4K driver is 4.5A or 5A, there are two models of this driver, one single mode plus two hidden modes
And one six-mode multi-function model.

Original as a technique to get a discount on a new pointer or spare parts for it.
Today we are faced with a world full of scams and tricks, Amazon is suffering from everything and more,
As I believe everything that is online, especially e-commerce.
