What is the best operating current you recomend? And what do you mean with "Remember lasers and LEDs want constant current not voltage." (I understand what is the constant current instead of the voltage but I can't understand the meaning of your frase.)

A lot of people try to tune the drivers thinking they are a voltage source. They are a current source and need to be tuned as such. That is why you make a load.

I would recommend between 75 and 85ma drive current.
