How to asseble laser parts? (newbie)

Hello dear friends, I need your help please.
Cause of my low budget, I bought the parts of a laser (in 1/3 of the price of a new laser pointer) but now I don't know how to asseble them. I assemble them once and the diode doesn't lights up(I think I broke it), now I bought new parts.
Please help me how to do this.
I have the following parts:
1x 980nm 50mw laser diode
1x 650-980nm 20-250mw TTL laser diode driver
1x 18650 battery 3.7v (should I change the battery?)

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry if my english are bad.

980nm is a IR laser you will not be able to see it but it will destroy your eyes. Be very careful.

Use a digital camera to see if it lights up.

That's like saying I bought the parts to build a car at 1/3 of the
price but now I don't know how to assemble them.

You have a few other problems....

1) you will never see the 980nm Laser. It is invisible to
the human eye.

2) If you are using a Linear Laser Driver one 3.7V battery
will not work.

3) I suggest that you take the time to research and read the
info on the Forum. Everything you need to successfully build
a laser is on the Forum but you will need to find it yourself.

You can start by reading the FAQs.... The Stickies and the
tutorials...

I have a night vision camera and that's why i bought a 980nm laser, when a assemble it I had the camera in front of me...so this is not the problem.
I think the parts are correct but I can't now understant what does the potentiometer doing and if I should adjust it correctly before I put on the diode...
Also the driver as I see is for a lot different nm and mw...

What part of Post #3 did you not understand....

Have you ever heard of a Test Load...

Try re-read item 3)....

Ok cool

You need a test load and a multimeter to set your test load

http://laserpointerforums.com/f67/test-load-diagrams-all-laser-diodes-65186.html

The potentiometer should set your current in mA. Then you look at the data sheet to fin out how many mA your diode needs set the driver with your test load.

Step
1. Set driver with test load

2. Remove test load

3. Short the output of the driver to drain the capacitors

4. Attach laser diode

5. Power driver with proper voltage 4-5V

Give the guy a break I am sure searching would be much easier if it was in his native language.

I don't know what his native language is... there is nothing
in his profile...

I would have thought that a member that has been registered
on LPF since Sept 2009 would have done some reading by now
about how to build a Laser

Don't get me wrong... you are welcome to spoon feed this
member that buys parts he does not understand how to
assemble.

Midias thank you very very much for your answer and you're right for the search, it's difficult for me to understand many words and frases.
Can you also be a little more specific...what parts excactly do I need to build the "test load"? Where can I find the "data sheet"? and I can't also understand the step "3"...

Jerry you are right but I have to tell you that I'm very good at electronics, in lasers I'm dummy but I thought I can build one...now I see it's much more dificult, please be forgiving.
(And by the way my native language is Greek and I don't know perfect English)

Your English and Grammar is just fine.... You're wanting to read
may be the problem...

Look at the 1st link in this thread of 8:19 EST this morning...

I did not know his native language either but reading the last line of his first post

"Thanks in advance for your help and sorry if my english are bad. "

Gave a big clue it was not english. Man I am really glad this forum was not this high and mighty back when I was asking noob questions. People seem to be much more condescending lately not sure why

What is the part number for your diode? Where did you get it?

A test load is made from from some diodes and a 1ohm resistor. It simulates a laser diode then you measure the voltage drop across the resistor and use Ohms law to determine the current in the system V=IR

More info here
Laser driver - It can be done

Step 3. After you set the current with the test load remove power and the test load from the driver and connect the laser diode outputs for a second to drain the capacitors.

eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

This is the diode.

Look at the listing where is says operating current 75-100ma. Run the diode between 75 and 100ma.

Remember lasers and LEDs want constant current not voltage.
