Hi all,
I'm working on a project for a biomedical engineering class: it essentially uses the concept that ultraviolet light kills bacteria; a wavelength of specifically 405 nm kills bacteria and is harmless to humans, unlike ordinary UV light. This is being used in hospitals to decontaminate rooms from bacteria. My project is not entirely different: it uses water as an optic fiber for light (in this case, the 405 nm light) and kills the bacteria in places ordinary light can't get into but water can.
Now, as to why I'm here: I need a high intensity, narrow spectrum 405nm laser pointer (or LED bright enough for water to reflect it internally) that hopefully isn't over $100 including shipping to South America. I have absolutely no idea where or how to get this. I was hoping someone here could help me. Studies have indicated that 5mW or less works best.
Thank you
