Hi All,

My hobby is electronics and radio building and I have had a fascination for lasers. I have been doing a lot of reading on the safety issues and found this website very useful.

I have a lot to learn but I am not in a hurry. I just want to be safe.

Regards, John

Glad you are thinking about safety. Many new members do not.

Welcome to LPF, JohnSim!

Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy your stay here.

Be sure and take advantage of the "custom search" bar located at the bottom of the page, there is a wealth of laser related information to be found there!

I don't know about those that you linked, but go here for great reasonably priced safety goggles/glasses: Survival Lasers U.S.A.

Thanks Gazen,

Can you advise if these glasses would be OK for a 1 Watt 445 laser.

I am not sure if it is a knock off as it is from China. They do show an authentication certificate - but it probably doesn't mean much.

If they’re what they claim to be, they’ll be fine. But why take the risk when you can get for certain genuine ones for only $5 more.

These will work for your 445, 405, and green including any ir it might output. If you decide you get into more dpss lasers or any ir lasers they’ll serve you well.

Also, please fill out your profile (:

Happy lasing

Greetings! Enjoy the forum :)
I have been to Melbourne, Florida many times
I'm assuming you're in the "further South" Melbourne?
Glad to have you around, either way!

Thanks guys for the welcome.

Yes, Melbourne OZ is a long way south of Melbourne Florida and much colder.
