Hey forum, ive gotten to my second 445 project, everythings set up through a lm317 ddl driver with a current set to 1.3 amps. Is this ok for long diode life? And how much power will be emitted from my diode?

Ohyea i also have a capacitor paralell to the diode for protection :) is there a specifc amount of capacitance or voltage i should use?
 





Capacitance of 10uF works well. You're probably ok with 10V caps, but I usually use 16 for some reason. I don't think 16 is necessary though.

Regarding life @ 1.3A, no way to know. We don't have datasheets for these diodes, and 1.3A is overdriving how they're used commercially.

Regarding how much output power to expect, it's hard to say without an LPM. You might get 1.3W, you might get 1.1W
 
Ooo i just checked mine, its 35v and 100 microfarads, is there anything wrong with that or will it protect the diode all the same as a 10v? My batteries supply just 7.4v to the circuit,,,
