Thanks. :)
Um...Do sunglasses work? :-/

Without getting overly technical: NO!   :D[/quote]

GAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read the safety section...sunglasses will kill your eyes...might as well remove them, and put them in the microwave on high - or better yet, popcorn setting !

Nope same problem.

There's only one substitute for good laser goggles - better laser goggles.

Sorry, no shortcuts here. Imagine being blind and looking back in time, regretting you didn't spend a measly $50 on goggles to save and keep your vision. Sure its not a likely scenario, but its not a gamble I, for one, would dare take. Make no mistake though: anything but quality laser goggles IS a gamble.

it should be pointed out that for a 5mW beam to be nicely visible, it needs to be a green (532nm) beam. a normal 650nm red will not have a visible beam, and a 635nm red has a very faint beam, and i've heard people say that a 5mW blue (473nm) will also be visible, but...green's obviously optimal. and Da_Dude - nice images of link in your signature! :)

It happened to me too at age 7 and my eye had to be removed, but I did it to myself by accident with a knife. If there is anything good about it, it did happen when I was young and as I grew a little order I adapted quickly. Needless to say I am very careful with lasers and everyone else should be too. Do not skimp or look for a cheap way out of good eye protection.
