hi, new member here from San Francisco Bay area.
Just went to SPIE Photonics West show and got interested in experimenting with lasers myself. In my field of work we use low power (200mW-ish) IR lasers and optical elements to provide specialized illumination for machine vision.
Always wanted to understand more about the generation of the photons, so to speak, so I'd like to build and buy and experiment a bit with various wavelengths.
Diffractive optical elements are cool things to add to laser outputs, so I'll look into this forum and see who's playing around with that technology.
Also interested in higher power lasers and seeing what higher power means and what the applications are. We can't use anything higher power at work since we are focused on low power systems.
Well, hello everyone.
