I also tried a hand-held liquid sky of sorts using my red pointer....also took the time to put my camera on the tripod so the pics are pretty sharp this time.

Wow! That's really pretty - what sort of diffraction grating are you using? - makes a nice pattern.

I think it is just a starfield pattern (made by a friend) pretty similar to your avatar
