What Jerry meant by looking it through the goggles,
405nm light is on edge of visible spectrum. It refracts differently through your eye's lens and appears very "fuzzy". This is completely normal, you should actually walk up to the laser dot and look at it from close distance, you will see that it's actually quite small.
This fuzzyness has a way of being circuimvented though, I have noticed that fuzzy dot consists of "streaks" in my vision, and dot is in perfect focus when those starry streaks are quite crisp and sharp looking, although they form large dot in my vision at distance.
It takes practise.
Also, don't forget actual safety goggles. You only get two eyes in your lifetime, don't lose 'em!
