Help with green laser !!

Hi,

I'm just bought my second green laser. A dealextreme true 50mw(i know, i need some money first!!)

My laser goes dim/bright whenever it wants, I've bought Philips powerlife AAA 1.5v batteries and the laser had a small beam(not very bright). Then I've put in the batteries that came in the box(brand: Alkaline-TianQiu AAA 1.5v) and the laser was perfect, great beam, super bright. After like 10 minutes(not constant on) playing it went dim. :wtf:

Does this laser consume so much energy? or is it a battery type/brand issue or is the laser broke/return it?

Can you give me a link to the laser.. some lasers use 10440 batteries.. they are 3.6v and are the same size as AAA batteries.. if this is the case you must buy the 10440 betteries and charger which you can get a various places around the forum!! But I need the link to make sure!

ok this is why I needed to check

ok well it takes 2 AAA batteries so this problem must be caused by something else.

just a few questions

1) have you ever dropped it?
2) have you put the batteries in the oppersite way?
3) have you tampered with it at all?

if the answers to the questions are all no.. then it could be a contact issue.. try putting a ball of tin foil at the end of the battery, the side oppersite to the laser end. see if that fixes the issue!

Well unless another member can think of a reason, and if you can't think of any other reason why this would happen... that might be a good idea.. you might want to next time invest in a better company so save you this hassel.

BTW those Philips powerlife AAA 1.5v batteries were band new right?

Okay, yes the philips were brand new, right out of the package. But still the Alkaline(also brandnew) were brighter the first 10 minutes of use. I've noticed my laser warms up after about 20-25 seconds, you can see a really thin beam. But it's just not the same as it was that whole 10 minutes of Alkaline.

Also I don't know if I will return it, it was only 20$ and I would have to pay for sending it back, and receiving a new one. I think i'll save for a better one from o-like or something like that.

With cheap green lasers, stability is nonexistent. You could RMA it, but you might end up with something worse. If you want decent stability from your greenie, DX is not the place to go. Stick with o-like,com, rayfoss.com, or budgetgadgets.com. The most stable cheap greenie I've ever had personally was the 30mW kaleidoscopic unit from budgetgadgets.com.
