Help removing the retaining ring from an Aixiz

    Has anyone else found it difficult, nay... impossible to remove the Aixiz lens retaining ring? I have tried soaking the assembly in BreakFree to no avail. Being that it is made of soft brass all I managed to do was mangle it with a screwdriver.

    So, whats the secret? :-? How do you guys get the damn thing out without destroying it?

I have had the same problem, I have no idea on how to do it. all ive got is a mangled nut like yours.

If you don't care about the lens heat it till it almost cherries. Then try to turn it out. When you put it back, clean the threads and add to touch of Vaseline. It will stop the oxidation and make it easier to take out again.

Heating it gently with a soldering iron on the outside thread might work.
[edit]I just read the above post, try my way first, you should be able to mellt the thread lock with an iron[/edit]
