Hi guys ! First thread, completely newb to this world, haven't ever touched a laser higher than 2mw, but I have lurked these obscure websites about lasers for a few weeks now on my spare time and I think I'm starting to get the basics. So, couple of questions .

I wish to build a first, easy to do laser. 100-200mw, green, nice host is what I am looking for.

So what I was thinking is this but I'm not sure it's compatible :

Host : DIY Empty CLASSIC Host for Laser Pointer ( Complete Set )
Complete module : DIY 150mW 532nm Green Laser Module
And a 18650 battery.

And of course the mandatory and oh-so-sexy goggles.

Would that be any good to start with ?

Is this overpriced ?

Thanks guys !

i'll second that advice. the first laser i assembled was a jayrob green kit. his kits are precision made by a true laserist. and you'll get it quick!

My first was also a Jayrob green. I put in a 200mw from o-like.
I have about a dozen different types now and this is still one of my favorites.

Thanks for your replies guys.

The green diy kit of Jayrob seems really nice ! But I find it expensive for a first build is all xD.

Jayrob kit, port incl : 81$
100mw module from o-like : 60$
2x goggles from o-like : 40$
charger+battery : 7$
holder 3$
Port must be around 10$

Gosh, that's 200$ total, 160 goggles excl. I would've expected to be ok with 70$ for a first build !

Is there any way to make it a bit cheaper ?

I also have some of those "host kits" you picked. They do not come with instructions and if you have never done this before or seen them you won't even know what some of the parts are.
Another option to "learn" is buy a super cheapo unit using this same type of host (lots of the cheap ones use this) and play around and take it apart and see how they are assembled.

Another possibilty, get that host and buy a couple of cheap green low mw modules for $10-15 (they are the same size) and see how you can put them together.
If they get messed up you won't feel as bad.
