Actually you will need to adjust your pot to achieve 300ma across the resistor

Actually the meter will read 300mV across the Test Load resistor
with 300mA of current through that 1 Ohm resistor.

In the video he is not measuring across the Test Load resistor.
He is measuring the current draw from the batteries to the Driver
and test Load across the switch.

Ah yes my error mv across resistor ma across switch with switch off. (current flow) it was a long day lol
There is a part 1 of the video and he shows both ways
