How's it going guys? Another Aussie here, wanting to buy some laser parts and put them together so I can give my scientist Aunty a laser pointer as a present. I've seen quite a few posts on here talking about drives, heatsinks, sleds, etc. that just don't make sense to me. I was wondering if someone could have the time to maybe link me some parts and give a tutorial that would allow a braindead retard to put together? I'm looking for something strong, but not too strong. Maybe 50mW or something at the max. I have a soldering gun, but I've never done a laser DIY. Can someone please help me? Also, if there are any Australia-based users here selling, I'm looking to sell! I pay well!
Cheers!

PM me if you want something built within Aus.. I'll see what I can do..

Keep in mind that you can import Components(i.e Diode, Driver, Host Heatsink) and then build the laser yourself.. Don't get it posted all in the same package, As I try to do, Buy each component from different sellers.

Good luck!

judging from the thread title - HELL NO! idiots should not have lasers.
then i read your post.....there are good people in oz that will help you acquire a laser. be sure to do some reading here on the forum - there is everything you need to know, and if not someone will point the way. cheers:beer:

Thanks, after a bit of reading, I think I'm educated enough to use Jayrob's DIY green kit and buy a module from o-like. Thanks for your help anyway :yh:

Haha thanks, I did mean someone who doesn't understand everything yet when I said idiot, but I think after a little reading, I'll go with Jayrob's DIY green kit. I'll end up buying the module off of o-like which should be legal I think. Thanks anyway! :yh:

Yeah no problem. It's pretty easy.

It's commonly frowned upon when people double post. You can always Edit your current post above to respond to the other member.

Alright, sorry! I chucked my laptop away and I'm replying on my phone which is making things a little difficult for me, but I'll remember that for next time, thanks!

Does your Aunty know about laser safety? If not, tell her or buy her some laser glasses for the 532nm wavelength for close up use, just in case. You only get two seeing things. Good luck

Well I'd assume so, but it wouldn't hurt picking up a new pair, thanks! Any recommendations? :yh:

Eagle Pair 190-540 nm, from Survivallaser are a good choice.:yh:

Just bought a cheap pair off auto-gadget.com and made sure to match the nM with the module. Thanks!

No problems, i hope she likes it. Hope your build works out
