Hello, I'm brand new to home/hobby lasers, and laser pointers. I do, however, have some experience with military lasers, in the Army, I was a fire support specialist, attached to a brigade HQ company (highly classified). The targeting laser we used in the field was a 5,000 watt, Co2, laser called a "glid". We mounted it on the M-981 Fire Support Vehicle, or "fist v". They have an unlimeted range, given line of sight, and we always used a filter that reduced the intensity by 75%, however, it would still light tree trunks on fire. Bet you guys would love to have one of those, wouldn't you? The other thing I have new technologial insight about the nature of, is that they were tunable. They have 4 decimal, rotary knobs for that total of possible "cannels". Since all laser seeking, guided munitions, use just one, so they won't be affected by any other lasers, operating in the same proximity. I loved that job, I got to burn shit, and blow stuff up.
