Can we depoliticise here? Keep it to the off-topic subforum perhaps - totally derailed the poor guys's welcome thread...

Anyhow, Welcome to the forum - Stay safe and I hope you enjoy your time here;

I note you said you're not going above 800mW for safety reasons - 800mW is still easily enough to cause instantaneous eye-damage, so make sure you get hold of a decent set of laser safety goggles alongside it. Since you're in the US, go for Eagle Pair goggles from SurvivalLaser.com

Please excuse the derail but I was responding to a statement, still it is off topic.

I was also going to say that 800mw is still plenty dangerous to our eyes so make sure to wear laser safety glasses where appropriate and don't get complacent, just because a laser looks dim doesn't mean it's not capable of causing eye damage.
