Hello everyone,

i am new to lasers and especially how to build them. I want to start right off, with building a blu (violet)
laser, using a dorcy Jr. host, a PHR-803T diode and the lava flexdrive.
Due to the many tutorials in this wonderful forum, I more or less know how to assemble it.
There is just one question I'd like to ask: How strong does the soldering iron has to be?
I already posses a soldering iron, but its heating surface is way too big for those tiny parts.

Thank you in advance

(I am German, so I hope you understand my average English. If there is any grammatic mistake, feel free to correct me ;) )

Welcome to the forum!
The recommended soldering iron for small electronics is from 15-25 watts. My 25 watt soldering iron works fine.
You should make sure you have a very fine tip, as the flexdrive is extremely small and it could be difficult soldering the diode to it.

I agree. Surface mount components are tough to solder even with a small tip.
