Long time, first time... figured it was time to join. I've been intrigued by lasers since I was a child. Lest I date myself, I was born about the time the ruby laser was perfected. While my career did not go in a technical direction, I've always been somewhat of a technophile, and a photon phreak (aka, flashlightaholic). I've gleaned a lot of information from here over the last year or two, and hopefully I can contribute to the LPF community.
Some of the things I've learned while lurking here, are the developments in the personnel laser market, along with the information regarding safety and the inherent dangers associated with handheld laser devices (although, I have never underestimated the power and potential danger of any type of high energy light source). I've been sitting on the fence the last couple of years, but finally decided to pull the trigger (as it were).
Arriving Tuesday will be a Survival Laser SL-001PB w/Cu heat sink, Cu diode module, and extended focus ring, plus two of the Eagle Pair goggles. I also have in the pipeline a Rayfoss RF532-150mw-FWT.
