Hello LPF,

Just introducing myself after making an account. I'm a former physics major who doesn't use his degree and misses having physics related activities in his life. Naturally this led me to the joys of laser pointers. I'd like to thank you all for providing some good safety info before I bought my first very pretty (and powerful) 445nm laser pointer. Eventually I'd like to start constructing pointers myself.

Welcome to the LPF. The Sanwu 304s are similar to the 303 style lasers sold on eBay from China. That is unless they have a new designation. The 1.6 watt diodes are usually the A140s or sometimes the M140s driven less hard. Though they don't need as much heat sinking as the higher power 445nm diodes, they generally do better with more than is provided with any 303 style laser host.
