Sanwu is usually on the money with their wattage ratings for their lasers. 3w's could do the job the only reason I said over 3w"s is because of my dealings with those who purchased lasers from me to do this job on the critters

Yes I say better to have and not need then to need and not have. I would go for a more powerful laser for the tank. At least you'll have that upper edge of power,

Make sure you wear the appropriate laser safety glasses when you use the laser, you only get one pair of eyes.
